On the second day of Dashain, Goddess Brahmacharini is worshiped today in Shaktipeeth and Dashain houses across the country.
She holds a japa mala (rosary) in her right hand and a kamandalu (a type of water pot) in her left. It is thought that the goddess got her name from her ascetic behavior or pursuit. It also stated that worshiping this goddess promotes abstinence(virtue), virtues, and seclusion(separateness).
Even today, Taleju Bhawani, Guhweri, Dakshinkali, Kalikasthan, Maitidevi, Indrayani, Vijeshwari, Shobhabhagavati, Naxal Bhagavati and Bhadrakali in the capital have been crowded with pilgrims since morning.
Likewise, temples outside the capital like Ambikeshwari of Dang, Chinnamasta of Saptari, Dantkali of Dharan, Vindwasini of Pokhara, Shaileshwari of Doti, Kalika of Baglung, Mankamana of Gorkha are also crowded with worshippers.
