5G started from Sundhara and Babarmahal area!

5G started from Sundhara and Babarmahal area! Government-owned telecommunication company Nepal Telecom has launched 5G high-speed mobile internet service in Sundhara and Babarmahal areas of the capital. The company has prepared the necessary infrastructure for 5G services in these areas and started system testing.

Telecom has planned to test 5G in one of the main cities of four provinces of the country. According to the same plan, the company has prepared the necessary infrastructure for internal testing of 5G service in Sundhara and Babarmahal areas of Kathmandu under Bagmati province. According to Telecom, the necessary preparations for the 5G test in the remaining three provinces have also progressed.

It is understood that Telecom is preparing to provide 5G trial service for customers with the new year of January 2023.

Telecom is testing 5G service based on 2600 MHz band. For this purpose, Nepal Telecommunication Authority, the regulator of telecommunication sector, has determined the necessary frequency for 5G and provided it to Telecom, in which Telecom has got 60 MHz frequency under 2600 MHz band.

However, when Telecom sent the commercial proposal of 5G test to the authority, it had requested to provide 100 MHz frequency in 2600 MHz band. However, the regulator has provided only 60 MHz frequency to Telecom. 5G started from Sundhara and Babarmahal area!

Based on the same frequency, Telecom will now test 5G in Nepal, in which it is mentioned that it will be tested in Kathmandu in the first phase, Pokhara and other cities in the second phase and in a rural part of the country in the third phase.

Based on the results of the test, Telecom will proceed with the business project of 5G in the coming days.
