Apple unveiled the entire new iPhone 14 lineup, an Apple Watch with extreme capabilities, and an improved version of the AirPods Pro. Built into a lightweight and compact body, it provides an exceptional acoustic experience while canceling up to twice as much noise as the previous generation.
The new generation of AirPods Pro has the same pearly white appearance as the first model from 2019, so there isn’t much difference in terms of aesthetics from the previous version. The noise-cancelling earphones are still compatible with Apple’s MagSafe-compatible charging case, which was announced last year.
Apple, on the other hand, has made some intriguing hardware updates that elevate the second-generation AirPods Pro to the status of Apple’s most remarkable earbuds to date.
According to Apple, the new AirPod Pro can support up to 6 hours of continuous music playback with noise canceling turned on, or an additional 30 hours with the included charging case. The new H2 chip in the 2022 model also enables a better Adaptive
Transparency mode, increased noise reduction, unrivaled audio quality, swipe controls on the stems for playback control, and new features for added convenience.Transparency mode allows listeners to stay connected to their music while remaining aware of their surroundings. Adaptive Transparency extends this popular feature even further.
Because the best audio experience isn’t complete without a comfortable in-ear fit, a new extra small ear tip is included so that even more people can enjoy the magic of AirPods Pro. Both the earphones and Apple’s new Find My-ready charging case have built-in speakers to help you find them if you misplace them.
The second-generation AirPods Pro will be available for $249.99 beginning September 23. Ordering is now open.
The $179 entry-level AirPod will remain available, though it’s unclear whether Apple will discontinue sales of the first-generation AirPods Pro once the second-generation device is released.
