Now all types of Electric vehicles can be charged at the charging stations of the Nepal Electricity Authority. For this purpose, the authority has started the installation of CCS 2 standard chargers from Friday.
Sagar Gyawali, manager of the authority’s charging project, said that the plan is to complete the construction of the charging station in Kathmandu Valley within a week and then go outside the valley. He informed that the work of placing chargers of this type has started in other four places of Kathmandu, Banepa, Khurkot, Sindhuli Madi, along with the head office of the authority located at Ratnapark, Mahendra Police Club, Sazha Seva Balkhu.
At least three types of chargers such as CCS, CCS Two and GBT standard are required to charge all types of electric vehicles currently operating in Nepal. GBT chargers are required for public buses and micro buses operating in common transport, beautiful transport, sustainable transport etc.
According to Gyawali, GBT chargers are given first priority because public transport needs to be charged daily, consumes a lot of energy and many consumers travel. Tata, MG, BYD, Kia, Hyundai, Greatwall and other cars require CCS to fast charger.
Lately, the authority has started placing this type of charger in various places. The chargers are small charging ‘piles’ installed by different companies in their own way. But the authority has started installing the charging station itself.
There are three ‘guns’ in this type of charger. So that up to three electric vehicles can be charged simultaneously at one charging station.
The authority has developed not only charging stations but also a separate app called NEA Charge to book charging stations and pay the charges incurred while charging. Through this app, the customer can pay money by scanning the QR code and knowing whether their vehicle can be charged at a certain charging station or not.
That is to say, efforts are being made to make the charging method of the vehicle as uniform as possible. However, it has not yet become possible to charge all types of electric vehicles with a single charger. Now all types of Electric vehicles can be charged at the charging stations of the Nepal Electricity Authority soon.
