Is Snapchat available to all users? Snapchat teased us in July about expanding the platform’s presence beyond mobile by launching a brand-new web version.
According to Snapchat, the web version, which was previously available only to paid members, is now available to all users.
Today, a list of new features was released, including improved web accessibility. On the Snapchat web, users can video call and chat with friends, and conversations can sync across devices. According to Snap’s head of messaging products Nathan Boyd, a web version of Snapchat is a “unmet opportunity” for the company.
Because the web version has a larger surface area, users can video call and chat with friends at the same time. According to a July statement from the company, 100 million people use Snapchat each month to call and then continue chatting with another user before closing the app.
Snapchat for the web was initially only available to Snapchat Plus customers, who pay a monthly fee for early and special access to features. In the first six weeks, more than a million users signed up for the paid tier, indicating that Snap’s new revenue model is already thriving. Is Snapchat available to all users? Yes it is.
