“Wallet Draining” malware was discovered in these 28 apps

Security researchers have discovered  ‘wallet draining’  malware targeting Android. Dozens of apps available on the Google Play Store have been spotted with ‘wallet draining’. It is said that it will take the user to a new web page and collect important data from there.

Apps containing such malware include wallpapers, keyboards, photo editors, video editors, cache cleaners, and system maintenance. This list contains a total of 28 apps. Web antivirus group said. According to the researchers, these apps, which have over 10 million downloads combined, collect user data in the same way that other apps do. When these apps are loaded on a mobile device, they collect data from the user. It is stated that adverts would be used to fund this software.

They make the user to open a premium account for various services through advertisements and collect banking related information as well as other important data from there.

According to the researcher, after contacting Google about the situation, several of these apps were removed from the Google Play Store.Some apps are still available on the Google Play Store. At that point, they urge that such programs be removed off their smartphones immediately.
