Khatiwada’s magical conversion of ‘Waste to Wealth’

Krishna khatiwada ,the resident of Hetauda, Makwanpur converts ‘Waste to Wealth’. For the past four years, Krishna Khatiwada of Hetauda Sub-metropolis-8 has been manufacturing and exporting the machine using Japanese technology. Khatiwada used to work with Japenese as a sole distributor for Japenese Food Products. Khatiwada participated on various seminars for impact plastic for climate change and pollution with japenese scientist for possible solution.

Krishna Khatiwada with an idea to convert waste to wealth from the energy produced from waste. His company became the first company to make and export  the machine in Nepal that converted waste to electricity to japanese comapany. This machine was first tested in Indonesia then in India’s Gujrat. The company started to manufacture this machine in 2019. Due to the pandemic this company was not able to export its machine.

Managing waste is one of the major challenges of urbanization. There are no effective waste management practices implemented at the grassroots level in major cities across the country. Many Nepalese cities face challenges in providing basic services such as water supply, wastewater treatment, and solid waste management. The general public is unaware that the machine that generates electricity from garbage is manufactured in Nepal and is also exported abroad.

About the Machine

The YAMATO – YWS is an advanced and unique Waste into Energy conversion system that is based on pyrolysis and gasification technology. The YAMATO-YWS is a compact high-efficiency thermal plant with its own intellectual property rights, unique features, and advanced merits. It is an excellent choice for waste treatment of municipal/industrial waste, medical-hospital waste, and hotel/rest-house waste, as well as contaminated and serious infectious virus-containing waste. This technology capable of converting solid waste (including plastics, tires, and trash) into energy with no release of toxic gases, dioxin, co2, so2, or other greenhouse gases, proving environmentally friendly.

The machine deactivates the gas released during the waste treatment process by heating it. The atmosphere is only filled with pure air.
The machine will process two tons of waste per hour and generate 0.5 MW of power. According to Khatiwada, stone coal is formed from decomposing waste, and clinker is released from non-decomposing waste, from which cement can be produced. He claims that waste management is simple because the system integrated into the machine picks, grinds, and dries. The machine is environmentally friendly as it does not burn plastic waste but destroys it through chemical processes. this machine is a total solution of solid waste management and treatment. focusing on developing sustainable systems and products to be used for protection of the environment.

This equipment would prove to be a vital part in the country’s prosperity ,environment conservation and waste management.
