Foreign Employment Department’s website hacked expert’s advice not to open site

Foreign Employment Department’s website hacked expert’s advice not to open site. It has been found that the website of the Foreign Employment Department under the Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security, Government of Nepal has been hacked. When opening the department’s site in the browser, a link to the Chinese website is redirected.

When opening this website, which is prepared for people who are going or want to go for foreign employment and office staff or institutional users, the Chinese site will be opened after the link is redirected. Although there is no problem in the desktop version, the website of the department is redirected in the mobile version.

Talking to Tekpana, cyber security expert Vijay Limbu informed that this website has been hacked.

“If any website’s link gets redirected to another site, it is understood to be hacked,” he says, “The hacker evaluates which way the website gets more traffic and redirects the site through that way.”

Limbu says that if the site is hacked, the data of the users and the department will be at risk.

He says, “Hackers hack government sites to leak data and use it for criminal activities.”

He suggested to be cautious because not only the data of the said site but also other data of ordinary users who open the link can be captured by the hacker.

“In such a situation, the hacker hacks the official website and redirects it to a spam or phishing link, which puts other data of the user at risk,” he said.

As this website has been hacked, Limbuka suggests not to open the site by any means. He also said that since this is a very sensitive issue, it should be investigated immediately.

Tekpana tried to contact the department officials about the website hack but was unsuccessful. Foreign Employment Department’s website hacked expert’s advice not to open site
