The government imposed a ban on plastic garlands. The government has completely banned the production, import, sale, distribution and storage of plastic flower bouquets across the country.
The Ministry of Forests and Environment published a notice in the gazette on Thursday and gave this information. Now production, import, sale, distribution or storage of flower bouquets made of plastic will be considered illegal throughout Nepal.
The Ministry has made this decision using the authority given by Sub-section 6 of Section 15 of the Environment Protection Act 2076.
Earlier, the Environment Department had decided to ban the use of plastic bags thinner than 40 microns across the country with effect from August 1.
Disadvantages of plastic
Plastics production also includes the addition of potentially harmful substances such as stabilizers and colorants.
