New standards in internet wire management. The Nepal Electricity Authority has instructed internet and TV service providers to manage the wires hanging on the poles. The Authority published a notification on Tuesday and instructed to manage the unnecessary optical fiber cable/co-axle cable which is pulled in a haphazard manner using electrical poles and is not in use.
“Our attention has been drawn to the fact that the devices hanging on the poles have made the city ugly, and electrical accidents including fire are increasing,” the notice issued by the authority said, “To provide reliable electrical services by reducing electrical accidents including fire, and to maintain the beauty of the city, construction of structures and It is requested to be managed.’
According to the information of the authority, it seems that now Internet and only TV service providers have to pay attention to two issues while connecting cable. In which when hanging the cable on the first pole, you have to measure the distance between the cable you are hanging and the electric line. So, the distance between the second fiber cable and the ground has to be measured.
According to the authority, the distance between the fiber cable and the wire should be 80 cm in the electric pole with 400 volt line i.e. bare wire. Similarly, in a pole with 400 volt line (insulated wire), the distance between fiber and wire should be 30 cm. In case of 11 KV to 33 KV lines, the distance between the cable and the line should be 2.0 meters.
Similarly, in the case of 400 volt devices, the authority has arranged that the distance between the wire and the device should be 75 cm. In addition, it is said that the distance between the ground and the cable should be 2.4 meters in the case of footpaths and 5.5 meters in the case of roads.
The authority has also instructed the service provider to place equipment such as routers, repeaters, fiber distribution boxes on the pole in order to keep them on one side of the pole so that they do not fall or shake. New standards in internet wire management.
