The Election Commission has given the Cyber ​​Bureau of Nepal Police the task of finding the owner of the ‘No, Not Again‘ Facebook page. The commission took such a step after the page became more active despite the instructions to close it.

On the 8th of October last, the Commission had given instructions to remove the page named ‘No, Not Again’ saying that it had influenced the election system. Considering that the page contained misleading information about the candidates and that it would affect the election system, the Commission said that the page should be removed immediately, under the name ‘No, Not Again’.

After the directive of the Commission, the ‘No, Not Again’ campaign became more popular. The Commission is being criticized for violating freedom of expression and ‘No, Not Again’ is being praised. After being criticized, the Election Commission issued a statement on Friday and said that organized pages insulting leaders are not included in the expression.

According to sources, the Election Commission has given the Cyber ​​Bureau the task of finding the owner of the page ‘No, Not Again’, which has become more active since then.

Looking at the Facebook transparency of the active ‘No, Not Again’ page on Facebook, it appears that there is one operator. After the Election Commission assigned the Cyber ​​Bureau to find the operator of ‘No, Not Again’, the Cyber ​​Bureau has started the investigation, informed the spokesperson of the Bureau and Superintendent of Police Pashupati Kumar Rai.

The Election Commission stated that the activities carried out by the said page fall under the Electronic Transactions Act 2063. This offense is punishable by a fine up to one lakh or imprisonment up to five years or both.
