Shekhar Chandra Thapa a provincial assembly member candidate died. Shekhar Chandra Thapa, the Minister of Forests and Environment of Province 1 and the Nepali Congress (NC) candidate for Morang constituency 3 (a) in the upcoming elections, died on Wednesday morning.

Thapa, 58, a resident of Pathari Shanishchare Municipality-8 Sakhara, Morang, died on Wednesday at around 10:30 a.m. at the Nobel Teaching Hospital in Biratnagar, according to hospital administration.

Thapa became ill shortly after registering his nomination on October 9. He was admitted to Nobel hospital for a checkup after becoming ill. He tested positive for Dengue and was also diagnosed with pneumonia and piles. As his condition worsened, he was flown to Kathmandu by helicopter on October 13 for further treatment.

Relatives brought him to Biratnagar, claiming that after 25 days of treatment at Kathmandu’s Hams Hospital, his health was returning to normal. Thapa died during treatment after being admitted to Nobel hospital on Monday due to respiratory problems, according to hospital manager Narayan Dahal.
