Santa Monica-based AI startup Rabbit Inc. has unveiled r1, a pocket-sized AI companion with a revolutionary natural-language operating system called rabbit OS.
Priced at $199, r1 utilizes rabbit’s proprietary Large Action Model (LAM) to understand and replicate human actions on various interfaces, eliminating the need for multiple apps. The rabbit OS can perform various digital tasks, from basic searches to complex activities like travel research.
The device, designed in collaboration with Teenage Engineering, features a sleek design reminiscent of retro gadgets and offers a 2.88-inch touchscreen display, a push-to-talk button, and a motorized vision system called “rabbit eye.” r1 prioritizes privacy, with no “always listening mode,” and secure offloading of computation to data centers. Pre-sales began on January 9, with shipments starting in late March.
