Facts about Ram Mandir in Ayodhya

The Ram temple in Ayodhya was inaugurated on Monday (January 22) at a grand ceremony, which was attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, alongside RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat and other dignitaries. 

  1. It has been built at an estimated cost of Rs 1,800 crore and has an overall area of 70 acres.
  2. The main temple area spans 2.7 acres.
  3. The temple’s total length is 360 feet and a width of 250 feet. The height of the temple, inclusive of its peak, reaches 161 feet.
  4. The temple has 392 pillars, 44 doorways, and 5 mandaps.
  5. The temple is three-storied, with each floor being 20 feet tall.
  6. No iron has been used in the construction of the temple.
  7. The bricks that have been used in the construction have an inscription of ‘Sri Ram’ and build date ‘2023’. This draws a symbolism with the construction of Ram Setu.
  8. The temple is made from Pink Sandstone sourced from Rajasthan’s Bharatpur district. This Pink sandstone is one of the weather-resistant and strongest stones available on the Earth.
  9. Physically it is the strongest temple all over India till date.
  10. According to the architect, the building age is more than 1000 years.
  11. The foundation of Ram Temple has been built with sacred soil from 2587 religious places including Jhansi, Bithoori, Haldi Ghati, Yamunotri, and the Golden Temple.
  12. August 5th consecration ceremony was carried out with holy water from 150 rivers across India.
  13. The company behind: Larsen & Toubro (L&T), Tata Group, and many other small companies contribute to making Ram Mandir.
  14. Chief Architect: Chandrakant Sompura is the chief architect of this temple.
  15. People say a time capsule is buried 2000 ft below the temple which is a complete myth.
