The Ram temple in Ayodhya was inaugurated on Monday (January 22) at a grand ceremony, which was attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, alongside RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat and other dignitaries.
- It has been built at an estimated cost of Rs 1,800 crore and has an overall area of 70 acres.
- The main temple area spans 2.7 acres.
- The temple’s total length is 360 feet and a width of 250 feet. The height of the temple, inclusive of its peak, reaches 161 feet.
- The temple has 392 pillars, 44 doorways, and 5 mandaps.
- The temple is three-storied, with each floor being 20 feet tall.
- No iron has been used in the construction of the temple.
- The bricks that have been used in the construction have an inscription of ‘Sri Ram’ and build date ‘2023’. This draws a symbolism with the construction of Ram Setu.
- The temple is made from Pink Sandstone sourced from Rajasthan’s Bharatpur district. This Pink sandstone is one of the weather-resistant and strongest stones available on the Earth.
- Physically it is the strongest temple all over India till date.
- According to the architect, the building age is more than 1000 years.
- The foundation of Ram Temple has been built with sacred soil from 2587 religious places including Jhansi, Bithoori, Haldi Ghati, Yamunotri, and the Golden Temple.
