Justice to Lal Bahadur

In the unfortunate tale of Lal Bahadur BK from Ithari, the wheels of justice seem to have taken a detour. This ordinary worker was falsely accused of involvement in a massive fraud case worth crores of rupees.

Background

Lal Bahadur BK is an ordinary person from Ithari. Lal Bahadur was a normal worker at Singh devi jewelers. Deepak Gajmer, along with Deepak’s father Krishna Bahadur Gajmer and Sita Gajmer had collected money from various hundreds of people saying that they would give high interest. Many people deposited crores of money under the temptation of high interest. However, when it was time to repay the funds, Singh Devi Jewelers refused, leading the victims to file complaints.

During the investigation, Lal Bahadur was wrongly implicated by Sita Gajmer, which resulted in his arrest. Later the case went on. Lal Bahadur was released after paying a bail of 2 lakhs. By that time, his land and house were mortgaged. As the legal proceedings unfolded, Krishna Bahadur was eventually found guilty. All the victims denied Lal Bahadur’s involvement, stating that they had never conducted any business with him. Despite this fact, the District Court of Sunsari, under the jurisdiction of Justice Nirmala Yongya, sentenced Lal Bahadur to 1 year and 6 months imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 30,141,333(3 crores 14 lakhs 33 thousand.).

The saga continues as Lal Bahadur has filed an appeal against this unjust verdict. Yet, the wheels of justice seem to be moving agonizingly slow, leaving Lal Bahadur languishing in Jhumka Jail. The critical condition of Lal Bahadur’s father, mother, and wife highlights the tremendous distress they endure as a result of this injustice.

This distressing tale sheds light on the failure of the Nepali criminal justice system. It raises questions about the fairness, transparency, and swiftness of the legal proceedings that are meant to protect the innocent and punish the guilty.

In a society where celebrity news captures attention on every page, swift action is often taken. However, the same urgency seems absent in cases like Lal Bahadur’s. Perhaps it’s because he lacks wealth and influence, without any connections to higher positions or politics.? This raises the question of where the slogan of our judicial system stands.

१०० अपराधी छुटुन १ निर्दोषले पानी सजय नपाओस !

In our country, even the king has struggled to receive justice, so can we, as common people, truly expect fairness? It feels like our society is becoming a place where cleverness and connections matter more than justice, making it increasingly challenging for individuals like you and me to find solace in the legal system.

Despite the challenges faced by Lal Bahadur, there remains a glimmer of hope that the judicial system will prioritize his case and ensure his freedom without delay. We can only hope that the authorities recognize the injustice he has endured and take prompt action to rectify the situation. Let’s all together and show our support for Lal Bahadur in his pursuit of justice. It’s important for each and every one of us to stand by his side and demand fairness. Together, we can make a difference and help ensure that he receives the justice he deserves.
