State level oratory competition on ‘Let’s Speak for Social Justice’ concluded

A state-level oratory contest on ‘Let’s Speak for Social Justice’ has been held. The competition was held in Birendranagar on Friday.

Dhirendra Sapkota of Surkhet came first, Namuna Pariyar second, Man Prasad Rokay of Dolpa third and Shankar Acharya and Hikmat Budhakshetri of Surkhet came third in the competition.

The competition was organized by the Ministry of Social Development, Karnali Pradesh, Awaaj Surkhet and American Corner Surkhet with the financial support of NUSAN.

Five thousand cash prizes were awarded to the first place winner, four thousand to the second place winner, three thousand to the third place winner and two thousand cash and certificate prizes were distributed to the two consolation winners, said Pavitra Shahi, director of Awai Sanstha.

Thirteen students from different schools in all 10 districts of Karnali participated in the oratory competition.

According to the organizers, the competition is organized with the objective of promoting the protection of women and children from violence, abuse and exploitation.
