New government expected in 2 weeks.

New government expected in 2 weeks. The Election Commission hopes to send the final results of the November 20 elections to the President early next week, paving the way for the creation of a new federal administration.

Previously, the commission stated that the results would be available two weeks after the vote and would be given to the President by December 8. However, the results were delayed due to disagreements throughout the counting process, as well as re-voting in numerous areas following suspicions of ballot stuffing. Vote counting in Dolakha, Syangja, and Bajura continues two weeks after the election.

Following the completion of the vote count, the commission will fill the 110-seats under the proportional representation category with candidates from parties that cross the three percent barrier. As of Sunday evening, seven parties had cleared the threshold: the CPN-UML, the Nepali Congress, the CPN (Maoist Centre), the Rastriya Swatantra Party, the Rastriya Prajatantra Party, the Janata Samajbadi Party, and the Janamat Party. New government expected in 2 weeks.

Aides to the President claimed they had learned informally that the commission’s findings will be submitted on December 12. President Bhandari will invite parties to form a government two days after receiving the report.
In most cases, the President allows parties 24 hours to come up with a plan.

In the previous polls, the commission took around three months to present the election report to the President. Though the elections were completed on December 7, 2017, the commission submitted the report only on February 14, 2018. CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli became the prime minister the very next day.
