Now it is possible to register the voter’s list online even outside the Kathmandu Valley. The service began as a trial period last Wednesday in three districts of Kathmandu Valley. This service is currently available in Kathmandu, Lalitpur, and Bhaktapur, with plans to expand to other districts.
According to Gokarnamani Duwadi, the election commission’s secretary, the online service was extended to five more districts :Kavrepalanchok, Chitwan, Kaski, Morang and Jhapa on Wednesday. The commission is planning to gradually roll out this service to other districts.
The Election Commission has created a website-based ‘Voter’s List Pre-Registration’ system for online voter list registration. As a result, there is no need to visit the district election office, district administration office, or area administration office to register or update the voter list.
According to the commission, citizens who are not registered in the voter list with photo, if they want to register their list, they can go to the website of the commission and submit their personal details online. However, the commission stated that after registering the voter list online, they must visit the relevant election office to obtain a print copy with the sign number and necessary documents, as well as provide a photo and fingerprint.
