Super Krishak app: Making agriculture smart

Super Krishak was one of the digital platforms that saw activity during the lockdown. It is an app designed to provide a diverse set of agri advisory services to smallholder farmers and agricultural workers throughout Nepal. Super Krishak’s primary concern is the quality of its content. As a result, it has limited features, but the app will soon have many new exciting features.
The app is currently working on three major features:

  • Agri-Trainings:

Farmers onboarded in the Super Krishak app can register for training and participate in the training through the app, as well as view the slides or video contents from the previously conducted training.

  • Agri-Articles:

Daily update of different agriculture articles not limited to news, Good Agricultural Practices (GAPs), smart tips for seasonal agricultures is shared in about 1000 characters [120-150 words]. In this section the article is supported by slider photos or video.

  • Agri-Quiz:

This feature is particularly for engaging the active users in the app through agri-related questions on a daily basis. The ranking is done on the daily, weekly and monthly basis and reward is provided to the winners of the quizzes.

Super Krishak’s team of seven people conducts extensive research to gather, organize, and compile information. Because the majority of the farmers are from the Terai, the team created the app in Nepali.

The Super Krishak app has also created a chat bot that is integrated with Facebook Messenger, making it easier and more convenient for farmers to share their questions and receive answers.

The Super Krishak team is also considering packaging its courses so that they can be capitalized on and used as educational programs for farmers who are both on the other side of the digital divide and physically located in inaccessible areas.
