Twitter to relaunch Twitter Blue at higher price for Apple users. Twitter Inc said in a tweet on Saturday that it will relaunch a revised version of its subscription service Twitter Blue on Monday at a higher fee for Apple users.
Users can subscribe to the updated service, which will allow them to edit tweets, upload 1080p videos, and receive a blue checkmark after account verification, for $8 per month via the web but $11 per month via Apple iOS, according to the business.
Twitter could not explain why Apple users were being paid more than others on the web, but media sources suggested that the firm was looking for methods to offset App Store expenses.
Twitter Blue was initially launched in early November before being paused as bogus accounts proliferated.
It was then set to launch again on November 29 but was postponed. Twitter to relaunch Twitter Blue at higher price for Apple users.
Elon Musk, who bought Twitter for $44 billion in November, outlined a number of issues with Apple in a series of tweets last month, including the 30% fee the iPhone maker charges software developers for in-app purchases.
He then claimed that Apple had threatened to remove Twitter from its app store and that the iPhone maker had halted advertising on the social media platform.
However, following a meeting with Apple CEO Tim Cook, he tweeted that the confusion over Twitter being deleted from Apple’s app store had been rectified.
Reuters’ request for comment was met with silence from Twitter and Apple.
