Makawanpur and Dhading suffering from dengue. An infectious disease spread by mosquitoes called dengue is currently wreaking havoc practically everywhere in the country. The Bagmati Province’s Makawanpur and Dhading districts are not an exception.
With approximately 600 cases registered in the district during the last 1.5 months, dengue cases are frighteningly high in Makawanpur.
An orientation event for the healthcare professionals who would be involved in the campaign was organized by the local unit on Friday.
Every year, dengue cases are reported in Makawanpur, particularly during the monsoon and post-monsoon seasons. However, compared to previous years, there are a lot more dengue patients this year. In the most recent fiscal year of 2021–2022, 195 individuals were infected with dengue, according to information available at the district health office. However, in just one and a half months of this fiscal year, the district has already received reports of 558 dengue cases.
According to Laxman Ghimire, information officer at the district health office, 226 people have been infected with dengue in Hetauda-4 alone in the current fiscal year. He said that some dengue patients who were recently cured were again infected with the disease.
Hetauda Sub-metropolis decided to launch a search and destroy drive along with a mass awareness campaign. Mina Lama, mayor of Hetauda Sub-metropolis, said that the campaign to destroy mosquitoes and aware people would be soon launched across the sub-metropolitan city.

This year, dengue has had a major impact on the hill district of Dhading as well. In the district, a patient, 56, passed away from dengue illness a month ago. Dengue cases in Dhading surpass those from the previous year, similar to Makawanpur. The local health office reports that 48 persons contracted dengue last year, but 126 cases have already been reported in the first 1.5 months of the current fiscal year.
