Export your WordPress website, follow these steps:
- Login in to your website’s WP dashboard.
- On the left sidebar select Tools > Export.
- On the ‘Export’ page select the content you would like to export.
- In this example, we have selected ‘posts’.
- Once you’re ready, click ‘Download Export File’.
- WordPress will now collate all your data and create a downloadable XML file.
- Your browser should automatically download this file to your downloads folder on your device.
Drawback
With this process, if we import files then feature images will not be available. So, it is somehow not very effective. I have found one plugin called “Export media with selected content”. It is very useful if there is a feature image on your content.
- Install this plugin.
- Then again go to the left sidebar select Tools > Export.
- You will notice the change in the UI.
- Check the option “Export media with selected content” and click “Download the export file”.
- With these steps the import process ends.
