In one month, Nepal’s telecommunication service providers lost around four lakh consumers. Most government-owned Nepal Telecom customers have been lost as a result of this. According to the Nepal Telecommunication Authority’s MIS report, there were 40 million 24 lakh 73 thousand users of Nepal Telecom, Ncell, and Smart Cell as of last March. According to the authority’s statistics up to April, around four lakh users have decreased in a month. Telecommunications services were used by 42 million 88 thousand persons up until April.
Under this, Nepal Telecom’s customers have decreased the most. In Chaitra, the number of telecom customers was 32 lakh 39 thousand , but in Baisakh, it has decreased to 28 lakh 81 thousand. In this calculation, Telecom alone has lost more than 350,000 customers.
Similarly, Ncell has lost more than 36,000 subscribers during this period. While there were more than 1 crore 68 lakh 67 thousand customers in Chaitra, it decreased to 1 crore 68 lakh 31 thousand in Baisakh. Nepal’s mobile and telephone access has dropped from 142.68 percent in Chaitra to 141.38 percent in Baisahak. By Falgun , it had dropped to 129.79 percent.
More recently, numbers in the range available for SIM cards with telecom service providers have started to run out. In this case, old and inactive numbers have to be used again. The telecommunication companies of Nepal have brought back the SIM cards which have been inactive for more than 6 months.
