Worth how much new banknotes were exchanged this Dashain?

According to the central bank, Nepalis exchanged new banknotes worth Rs 22 billion for the Dashain festival this year.

According to Nepal Rastra Bank Director Rewati Prasad Nepal, the bank sent banknotes in denominations of Rs 100, Rs 50, Rs 20, Rs 10, and Rs 5 totaling Rs 12 billion.
Similarly, banks exchanged Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes worth Rs 10 billion during this time period.

The value of the new notes distributed to the market is significantly greater than the value of the new notes distributed by Nepal Rastra Bank in the run-up to Dashain last year.

On September 14, the central bank began exchanging new notes of small denominations for Dashain for the purpose of using them as dakshina.

For decades, Nepal’s central bank has allowed ordinary people to exchange their old banknotes for new ones ahead of Dashain, the most important festival for Nepalis.
