B.Sc. CSIT (Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Information Technology) is a four years / 8 Semester / 126 credit hours course. It is offered by many private and government institutions in Nepal. This course can be studied by the students who have taken Science at + 2 levels. BSc. CSIT is one of the most demanded courses in Nepal for technology enthusiasts. It provides the students with adequate theoretical and practical knowledge which enable students to participate in solving the complex problem of the IT industry.
Objective
The main objective of B.Sc.CSIT program is to provide students with intensive knowledge and skill in different areas of computer science and information technology including design, theory, programming, and application of computer systems.
Eligibility
The candidate applying for B.Sc. CSIT program must have secured a minimum of the second division in their +2 or equivalent or should have secured at least a C in all subjects in Grade 11 and Grade 12 by taking Physics and Mathematics of 100 marks. Biology group students can also apply for this course.
Applicants are required to appear in the entrance test conducted by the Institute of Science and Technology, Tribhuwan University (ISOTU) and should secure pass marks to be eligible
Entrance Exam
About 10,000 students appear on the BSc. CSIT exam that is conducted by the IOST. Out of these 10,000 students, some are selected for the government campus and some private IT colleges.
The question will be asked in 4 sections. All the questions in the entrance examination will be in the form of Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ).
This is a rough syllabus for the entrance examination.
Mathematics- 25 Marks (The questions on the Math section are from class 11 mathematics, so students who have taken biology as a major subject can also study BSc. CSIT )
Physics- 25 Marks
English 25 Marks
Chemistry- 25 Marks
This entrance exam takes place for 2 hours.
Admission Process
For starting the admission process, a student can visit any B.Sc. CSIT college in Nepal. They will provide the admission form and entrance model questions. Students don’t need to fill up the form from more than one college. Once he/she has passed the entrance, they can choose any college they want to study in.
Note: Every college has its own intake marks which means he/she might not get into a college because their entrance scores are low. So, it is good to score high mask as much as possible in the entrance exams.

Fee Structure
The fee for BSc. CSIT Colleges in Nepal range from NPR 2.5 Lakhs to 8 Lakhs. The fees for the government BSc. CSIT Colleges in Nepal range from 1.8 Lakhs to NPR 4 Lakhs. For the private colleges, it ranges from NPR 4 Lakhs to 6 Lakhs.
Grading System
A student who has passed his/her 8 semesters (4 years) of study will be graded as follows:
- Distinction: 80 % and above
- First Division: 70 % and above
- Second Division: 55 % and above
