Elections on November 20: Nepal-India border in Dhanusha to be closed. In light of the upcoming elections to the House of Representatives (HoR) and the Provincial Assembly, the Nepal-India border along Dhanusha district will remain closed (PA).

Surendra Paudel, Chief District Officer, Dhanusha, said the border will be cordoned off 72 hours before voting on November 20 due to potential security threats.

A joint meeting of security officials from both countries took this decision in Jainagar, Madhubani district, India.

The meeting also discussed border mobility, encroachment and management of no-land, man’s internal security in both Nepal and India, and illegal smuggling of narcotic drugs and alcohol, he said. Meanwhile, approximately 10% of the total votes cast in a mock voting held here in Janakpurdham Sub Metropolitan City-14 in preparation for the upcoming HoR and PA elections were invalid. According to Samjhana Kumari Raut of the Samagra Bikas Sewa Kendra, a local organization that organized the vote as part of the voters’ education program, approximately 10% of the total 55 votes cast were invalid.
