Judicial Council has called a meeting for Wednesday afternoon. An audio had leaked between Kathmandu district court judge and lawyer. There conversation was to release a businessman Ichcha Raj Tamang who is in jail.
News24 TV on Tuesday evening played a 10-minute audio recording between judge Raj Kumar Koirala and lawyer Rudra Pokharel. In which they had discussed to make a deal to release Ichcha Raj Tamang.
Pokharel had told Koirala if he released Ichcha Tamang for 10 crores, he is ready to pay 2 crore in advance. Koirala mentioned that he is ready to do so but he should also convey this deal to senior people. Advocate Pokharel had said that he will reach an agreement with the Chief Justice and Chief of Kathmandu District Court too.
The Central Investigation Bureau of Nepal Police had in October last year arrested Tamang. Several complaints about embezzlement of deposits at the cooperatives had registered with the police.
No case has assigned to Koirala on Wednesday after the audio tape came into the public domain.
