Nepal-India border to be closed from night of November 17 to November 20. The Nepal-India border will be closed for three days in advance of the November 20 election of members of the House of Representatives and provincial assemblies.

On Saturday, security officials from Nepal and India met in Bhairahawa and decided to close the border from 12 a.m. on November 17 to 12 a.m. on November 20.

“Like in previous general elections, it was decided to close the border for 72 hours this time,” said Ram Chandra Aryal, assistant chief district officer of Rupandehi.

According to Aryal, the meeting decided on common issues such as both sides enforcing laws in the border area, immediate exchange of information to control all types of illegal activities, smuggling of arms in the border area, control of counterfeit notes, and so on. Nepal-India border to be closed from night of November 17 to November 20.

The meeting was attended by security officers from Rupandehi, Kapilvastu, Nawalparasi West, and Siddharthnagar, Maharajgunj in India.
