YouTube announced today that it will collaborate with the e-commerce company Shopify to allow creators and merchants to feature their products and content on their channels.
The new partnership will allow eligible creators to connect their Shopify store to their YouTube channel.
Also leveraging Shopify’s real-time inventory syncing.Creators in the United States will be able to enable the onsite checkout feature. This will allow viewers to initiate and complete purchases without leaving YouTube.
YouTube is also introducing a new shopping destination in Explore for viewers in the United States, India, and Brazil. Youtube feature relevant shoppable content for viewers in these countries. More countries are expected to benefit from the shopping destination in the year end.
Eligible creators can now use the Live Control Room to tag products to a live stream. YouTube-Spotify also announced the addition of new tools within the “Shopping” tab of YouTube Studio. It allows creators to easily manage how thier products are tagged and appear across the channel.
The new tools would help them manage their YouTube stores and bring their products directly to their audience. It claims to allow viewers to easily discover and purchase from brands. One of the new features is the ability for two creators to go live at the same time to co-host a single live shopping stream, effectively doubling the draw for the event by allowing each creator to bring their followers to the stream.
