Seventy-three people lost their lives to various natural disaster-related incidents between mid-April and mid-June.
Similarly, a total of 15 people died due to fire-related incidents. Wild animal attacks in the past year killed 10 people. While eight people swept away by landslides. High gusts of wind also killed eight people in the country. While two died after snake bit them and two due to flood.
The number of people injured in various disasters across the country is also high. However there is no definite information about the loss of physical property.
Lack of technologies, carelessness of people and geographical conditions are said to be the main cause of these. There was an interaction program organized by Disaster Preparedness Network (DPNET). During this interaction Dr. Jiba Raj Pokharel said that there should be emphasis on basic technology to control natural disasters.
