We all remember google blocking 1.2 Million apps from the play store because of policy violation in 2021. Google has frequently changed their policy for user’s security and privacy. According to recent change in their policy, app that haven’t been updated from two years or more will be removed or hidden from view on the Google Play Store and won’t appear in search results. Users would no longer be able to see or download these apps onto their devices . Google’s store had around 869,000 apps that had not been updated for more than two years, while Apple’s store had around 650,000. After two years without an update, apps are more vulnerable to exploits, which is why Apple and Google have introduced new policies in recent months.
Regardless, choosing user security is always a step in the right direction. By forcing developers to comply with security updates, both Google and Apple are giving more power to their users.
