Many analysts believe Lionel Messi has been at his best in all competitions save the World Cup. Argentina was eliminated in the quarterfinals of both the 2006 and 2010 World Cups, despite Messi’s best efforts.

Messi scored a spectacular goal in Argentina’s first game against Bosnia and Herzegovina. He contributed four goals to Argentina’s World Cup victory.
