Japan contributes funds to Pyuthan’s new turmeric processing center. The Japanese government has contributed Rs 10 million to the development of a new turmeric processing center and the provision of agricultural equipment in the Pyuthan district.
According to a statement released by the Japanese Embassy in Nepal, Ambassador of Japan to Nepal Kikuta Yutaka signed a grant contract with President of the Volunteer Nepal National Group Shiva Rimal for a project on Friday at the Japanese Embassy in Kathmandu. The assistance was provided through the Japanese government’s Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP).
According to the embassy’s statement, the project would fund the deployment of agricultural equipment as well as a processing facility for the production, processing, and sale of turmeric. Currently, more turmeric is imported than produced in the United States.
Due to a lack of domestic work centers to sell the product, local turmeric growers are unable to generate a significant profit. The project’s goal is to improve the condition and generate cash for farmers. Japan contributes funds to Pyuthan’s new turmeric processing center.
