The ‘Krishi Path’ app made at a cost of 1 crore was abandoned. The mobile app called ‘Krishi Path’, which has been spent more than 1 crore, is now neglected. The app prepared with the financial support of CARE Nepal was handed over to the Federation of Household and Small Industries Banke in the month of February 2077.
This app, aimed at farmers, businessmen, agricultural cooperatives, agricultural groups and consumers, has become inactive after one year of operation. According to Madhu Khadka, president of the Federation of Household and Industries Banke, the app was launched with the help of Care Nepal to encourage farmers through digital means during the Covid epidemic.
In the said memorandum, it was mentioned that every ward will organize a call center to promote the app. A budget of three lakhs has also been allocated to keep women entrepreneurs for the operation of the call center.
The internet building was built exclusively for the operation of the app. The employees working in that building were working for the operation of the app, while the farmers were informed about the app through the call center.
The app ran well for about a year after it was released. In the meantime, it is mentioned in various sources that there was a turnover of more than 1 crore 75 lakhs. However, President Khadka claims that there is a turnover worth 3 crores. The ‘Krishi Path’ app made at a cost of 1 crore was abandoned.
He says that various trainings have also been conducted suggesting the use of the app. In this way, more than 1 crore has been spent in creating and managing the app. The app was getting a good market share, but in between, the publicity started to wane. As a result, farmers, consumers and traders are also avoiding the app, says Khadka.
Currently, farmer participation in the app is almost zero. Gita Singh, a farmer of Raptisonari rural municipality, complained that she stopped using the app after there was no demand for agricultural production in the app.
