Nepal signs deal to send nurses UK

Nepal signs deal to send 10,000 nurses to the UK. Nepal has signed an agreement to send its nurses to the United Kingdom. On Monday, Labour Secretary Ek Narayan Aryal and British Ambassador to Nepal, Nicola Pollitt, signed an agreement in this regard during a program in Kathmandu. Sher Bahadur Kunwar, Minister of Labour, Employment, and Social Security, was present in the occsion.

Although the agreement does not specify the number of nurses to be sent to the UK, Minister Kunwar’s predecessor, Krishna Kumar Shrestha, previously informed the parliament that around 10,000 would be sent, with each receiving around Rs 400,000.  The deal just says the facilities of the nurses would be equal to those of the British ones.

During the agreement signing ceremony on Monday, Ambassador Pollitt expressed his hope that the agreement would help Nepal develop its medical human resources in addition to providing access to British jobs.
