Drug dealers arrested

Kathmandu. The Narcotics Control Bureau of Nepal Police has arrested seven women with white heroin worth Rs 1.2 billion. During a press conference on Thursday, seven African nationals were arrested with 51 kg of white heroin in a period of one week from 26 to 31 June.

At the press conference, Chief of the Bureau of Drug Control, Jeevan Kumar Shrestha, said that drug traffickers were arrested using Nepal’s Tribhuvan International Airport for the purpose of transiting Nepal and doing business in India and other countries.

He said that 51 kg of heroin was found in the past while monitoring drug traffickers. He clarified that the seized 51 kg of heroin would be worth Rs 1.2 billion according to the current market price. Chief Shrestha said that all the seven arrested were women from South Africa.

According to him, it has been revealed that they came to Nepal from Fly Dubai on different dates. Chief Shrestha said that the police had taken control of the gang within seven days by intensifying their activities at Tribhuvan Airport and Thamel area.

He said, “We have been doing specialized work for a long time. We have arrested 7 people and seized 51 kg of heroin from June 12 to date while conducting surveillance on the basis of arrests being made in the past for drug trafficking using Nepal’s Tribhuvan Airport for the purpose of transit to Nepal and trading with other countries. It is considered one of the world’s most expensive drugs and the world’s most expensive drug.

He added, “Seven women including 51 kg have been arrested. 51 kg of heroin is equivalent to 1.2 billion Nepali rupees. Muril Nasamba and Than Deki, two African nationals who arrived in Nepal via South Africa and Dubai on the 29th of June, were arrested by the CBC from a hotel in Thamel on the 30th. 8/8 kg of heroin was found with the two. Similarly, on the same day, while conducting a search from a hotel in Thamel, we arrested another Thabhoni Thabalala. Probably the biggest operation ever. On June 29, the bureau arrested two South Africans with 16 kg of drugs.

According to Chief Shrestha, Thabhoni Thabalala, a South African woman, was arrested along with an additional 8 kg of cocaine on the basis of the statements of Muril Nasamba and Than Dekeli, who were arrested from Tribhuvan International Airport on Sunday. He said that two of the arrested persons were coming to Nepal and five of them were coming to Nepal for the first time.
