Most extreme heatwaves ever recorded globally

The recent research and study has revealed the most extreme heatwaves ever recorded globally. A new research study has uncovered the world’s most extreme heatwaves ever recorded globally – and some of these went practically unreported decades ago.

Heatwaves hit Europe, North Africa, the Middle East, and Asia in June and July 2022, with temperatures reaching 40 degrees Celsius (104 degrees Fahrenheit). Many long-standing records are broke in many regions.Western Europe has already experience severe drought. The heatwave caused wildfires that burned over Portugal, Spain, and France.

In Portugal

Temperatures in Portugal hit 45 degrees Celsius (113 degrees Fahrenheit) on July 13 in the town of Leiria.More than 3,000 hectares had burned. As firefighters fought 14 active flames, leaving more than half of the nation was on red alert.

In Italy

On July 3 a part of the Marmolada Glacier collapsed in in the Dolomites. The avalanche of snow, ice, and rock killed 11 hikers, as a result of Italy’s record heat.

In UK

The Met Office in the United Kingdom issued extreme heat or amber warnings as temperatures continued to rise.Perhaps breaking all time record highs.

In North Africa

Tunisia in North Africa has endured a heatwave. And fires that have damaged the country’s grain crop. On July 13 in the capital city of Tunis, the temperature reached 48 degrees Celsius (118 degrees Fahrenheit). Breaking a 40-year record.

In Iran

Temperatures in Iran remained high in July after reaching a scorching 52 degrees Celsius in late June.

In China

Three heatwaves hit China this summer, causing roads to buckle, tar to melt, and roof tiles to pop off. On July 13, 2022, the Shanghai Xujiahui Observatory recorded its highest temperature ever: 40.9 degrees Celsius (105 degrees Fahrenheit).

In South Asia

In 2022, the south Asia region has recorded-breaking and unrelenting heat from March through June. Thus, with temperatures reaching 47 degrees Celsius (116 F) in India and 51 C (124 F) in Pakistan.

Similarly, in Nepal, the temperature is hovering around 18 to 33 degree Celsius.  Therefore, clear sky with low rainfall has increased the temperature of Nepal.
